Lab Assistant (Quality Department)

Pay Rate: $20.00 / hour

Job Type: Full-time, Temp-to-Hire

Schedule: 5:45 PM – 6:00 AM (Rotating 2-2-3 schedule, 12-hour shifts)

Axiom Staffing Group is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to join the Quality team of a premier food manufacturing facility in Winchester, VA. Key Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Sample Collection & Verification: Pull required product samples within established timeframes to allow the laboratory to properly identify product; verify that ongoing production meets strict quality specifications on the line.

• Inventory & Rack Management: Set up incubator and cooler racking systems before production lines start; perform daily cleanup, tracking, and organization of racking systems.

• Lab Sanitation: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary laboratory workspace by removing trash, consolidating supplies, wiping down equipment/counters/walls, and sweeping or mopping prior to the end of the shift.

• Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to all safety, environmental, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), including facility dress code standards. Report any safety concerns immediately.

• Food Safety & Quality (SQF): Monitor incoming goods and services; maintain excellent food safety and quality standards by keeping the work area sanitary, and report any food safety issues to authorized personnel.

• Continuous Improvement: Participate in team-oriented processes to help identify and implement efficiency or quality improvements within the lab and the plant.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• Adaptability: Ability to learn quickly, apply new skills, and adapt to changes in a dynamic production environment.

• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Teamwork: A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with team members to meet department and plant goals.

• Reliability: Proven track record of excellent attendance and reporting to scheduled shifts on time.

• Work is performed in a food processing facility. Employees may be subject to exposure to manufacturing ingredients (including potential allergens) as well as standard cleaning and sanitation chemicals.
