Axiom Staffing is seeking a Draftsmen for a local crane manufacturer in York, Pa. This is a contract position, approximately 1 year in length.

Job Description

With minimal supervision, performs moderately difficult drafting/design assignments which require the application of drafting and/or fundamental design techniques in accordance with industry standards and codes.  Guidance provided by design engineers and/or supervisor for assignments involving more complex design concepts.

Typical duties and responsibilities include:

1. Preparing engineering drawings (80% of the time) for new below-the-hook lifting equipment (usually starting with similar previous designs) using mostly SolidWorks and some AutoCAD
2. Creating solid models using SolidWorks (10% of the time)
3. Preparing electrical schematics (5% of the time) using AutoCAD
4. Creating items, bills of materials, etc. using Client's’s ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems (Bluestar PLM and Microsoft D365) (5% of the time)
5. Determining material needs using company’s design standard and reference designs
6. Reviewing Client's, customer, and industry standards to assure compliance with customer requirements
7. Reviewing manufacturer's and vendor’s prints for conformance with contract specifications

Typical requirements include:

1. A 2-year degree in drafting/design technology and 2+ years prior drafting/design experience
2. A solid knowledge (2+ years experience) of SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
3. Solid understanding of drawing detailing, bills of materials, and established procedures
4. Basic understanding of welding and machining
5. Hands-on mechanical experience is a plus
