Axiom Staffing is recruiting for a Direct Hire Design Engineer for a company in York, PA. 

Job Description

Perform a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard engineering techniques for a small/moderate project or selected segment of a large project.  The incumbent must be capable of exercising independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to make design adaptations and modifications.

Typical duties and responsibilities include:

1. Design new below-the-hook lifting equipment (usually starting with similar reference designs)
2. Create drawings (50% of the time) using mostly SolidWorks and some AutoCAD
3. Create solid models using SolidWorks (25% of the time)
4. Check other’s design/fabrication drawings (10% of the time)
5. Perform engineering calculations (by hand, spreadsheet, etc.) (5% of the time)
6. Create items, bills of materials, etc. using Bradley’s ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems (Bluestar PLM and Microsoft D365) (5% of the time)
7. Review Bradley, customer, and industry standards to assure compliance with project requirements
8. Evaluate vendor bids and drawings to assure compliance with specifications
9. Assist sales, service engineering, and production departments, as required
10. Provide engineering-related customer support (by phone, email, and occasional travel to customer sites) to assist with product quality assurance, installation/commissioning, and troubleshooting as needed
11. Independently set goals, adhere to budgets, and meet assignment deadlines
12. Utilize strong planning, decision-making, and troubleshooting skills to identify potential solutions and evaluate possible outcomes effectively

Typical requirements include:

1. A 4-year Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical engineering degree and 3+ years related experience (or equivalent working knowledge/experience)
2. Solid knowledge (3+ years experience) of SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
3. Solid understanding of drawing detailing, design, bills of materials, and established procedures
4. Above-average organizational, planning, and written/oral communication skills
5. Solid understanding of welding, fabrication, and machining processes
6. Hands-on experience with the assembly, repair, and/or troubleshooting of heavy, industrial, electro-mechanical machinery is a plus
7. DriveWorks(Xpress) experience is a plus
8. Electrical/automation experience (design and/or hands-on) is a plus
9. Supervision/management/leadership experience is a plus
10. Hydraulics experience is a plus
