Job Title: Custodian (Church & School – Half-Day Split)
Location: McSherrystown, PA
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Flexible hours in the day. Approximately 9:00am-5:00pm

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Custodian to maintain cleanliness, safety, and order across both our church and school facilities. This unique role is split between the two locations each day—supporting the mission of a clean, welcoming environment for worship, learning, and community activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Church Duties (Half Day):

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, sanctuary, fellowship hall, offices, and common areas

• Set up and clean up for services, events, or meetings as needed

• Empty trash, sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust throughout the facility

• Monitor and restock cleaning and restroom supplies

• Report any maintenance needs or safety concerns

School Duties (Half Day):

• Clean classrooms, restrooms, hallways, cafeteria, and administrative offices

• Sanitize high-touch surfaces and ensure hygienic conditions in student areas

• Assist with lunchroom setup/cleanup, if needed

• Empty trash and recycling bins regularly

• Support maintenance of school grounds (e.g., light shoveling, sweeping entryways)

Qualifications:

• Prior custodial or janitorial experience preferred

• Strong attention to detail and time management skills

• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks throughout the shift

• Trustworthy, respectful of church and school property

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Must pass background check (required for working in school environments)
